XLOG is a licensed agent for the Varna – Batumi ferry line with full service – from booking tickets for cars, trucks and passengers to customs representation and organization of oversized and dangerous goods.
The Varna – Batumi route is the most direct sea route between Bulgaria and the Caucasus region. For transport companies and drivers looking for an alternative to the long land route through Turkey, the ferry is not just a convenience – it is a logistical choice with clear advantages in terms of distance, risk and control over delivery time.
XLOG acts as an agent for this line and organize all the administrative and documentary procedure so that clients can focus on their business.
What cargo and vehicles are served?
The service covers three main categories:
Cars and passengers – seat reservations and ticketing for individuals traveling by private car or as pedestrian passengers.
RO-RO cargo (trucks and trailers) – organizing transport for standard freight vehicles using the roll-on/roll-off system, where the truck enters and exits the ship on its own.
Specialized cargo – here XLOG covers three specific categories requiring additional coordination: oversized cargo, dangerous goods under the ADR regulation and refrigerated trucks requiring on-board electrical power (reefer plug-in). For each of these categories, a prior request and confirmation from the shipping company is required.
How is the ticket price formed?
The pricing depends on the type of vehicle, the number of passengers and the available capacity on a specific voyage. XLOG provides preferential prices for regular customers and transport companies with frequent requests. Since prices are updated periodically and depend on the season and load, a specific offer is received upon direct request to our team.
What documents are issued and processed?
- Issuance of tickets and waybills: Generation of bills of lading and boarding passes.
- Customs representation: Preparation of documents for transit, import or export.
- Manifest processing: Submission of information to the port authorities about the type and quantity of cargo on board.
Documentary handling is an integrated part of XLOG’s agency service. Upon booking, a bill of lading and boarding passes for passengers are issued. If customs representation is required – whether for transit, import or export – XLOG prepares the necessary documentation and submits it on behalf of the client.
Additionally, XLOG processes manifests for the port authorities – the official document containing information about the type and quantity of cargo on board. This step is mandatory before each sailing and requires accurate data provided on time.
Why work with an agent and not directly with the shipping company?
Direct booking is technically possible, but practically more complicated – especially for non-standard cargo, need for customs documentation or preferential conditions. The agent concentrates communication at one point, knows the requirements of the port authorities in both Batumi and Varna, and can react to schedule changes or denied capacity.
For transport companies with regular services on this route, working with XLOG also means access to better rates and shorter administrative processing times.
